ROMULAN EMPIRE, 4Xe / 01 Jan 2365 / Y259 / Stardate 51996
Romulan Tal'Shiar Operative Tlusok emerged from the Temporal Anomoly in his custom-designed Romulan Slip-Stream Shuttle (see Part 1 for details). As expected, he appeared in the future, during the time of the Dominion War. In fact, he arrived exactly at the point in time he left. The computer issued a proximity alert. "Two Borg vessels just passed us at high speed, and are now turning to pursue."
Tlusok's face turned pale green. Of course! The two Borg ships who did not enter the Anomoly (from Part 1) are still here! Tlusok knew his small shuttle could not outrun the Borg, even with the Slip-Stream energy left over from the Slip-Stream Cruiser. After uttering a Romulan 'colorful metaphor', he spun his ship around and charged for the larger one (the Borg Incomplete Cube). At very high velocity he flew right into the Cube's hex.
The Cube, now caught in the high-energy Slip-Stream, turned to get its weapons in arc on the Shuttle. Tlusok entered the code to drop the Slip-Stream, throwing both ships from it. Both the Shuttle and the Command Cruiser were destroyed, taking damage far in excess of what their shields could handle.
As the Shuttle was exploding around him, Tlusok felt strangely detached from it. He thought, 'Slip-Stream would have made a great weapon used this way. Slip-Stream Drones? No, couldn't hold a big enough field intact...'
Tlusok realized the reason he felt detached was because he was being transported! Fully expecting to be either dead or facing Jem'Hadar soldiers on board the remaining Fighter, he was pleasantly surprised to see neither: a complete alien. The alien, a grey bald thin humanoid about 8' tall, spoke in perfect Romulan.
"I am Rolawan, a Velron. My ship detected a temporal disruption in this area."
The Velrons are one of the "Pinwheel Galaxy" races created by R.A. Mulder and Timothy E. Janota (see The Pinwheel Galaxy for details).
I believe they have agreed with ADB to appear in a "real" ADB product.
The Velron ship was being escorted by a Bolaar cruiser, and they fled the area for a nearby Orion Syndicate base. Besides Tlusok, the Velron had also captured a few Borg from the exploding Cube, and they interrogated them. The Borg claimed to be following Captain Janeway's agreement with the Borg concerning Species 8472. Apparently, Species 8472 has been planning an invasion of Earth, and they have specialty ships which can disguise themselves to appear to be Federation ships at long range.
A klaxon sounded on the Velron ship, and long range scanners detected a UHPF ship at long range.
Tlusok asked, "UHPF? What's that?"
The Velron paused for a second (as if surprised), and replied, "The 100 year alliance between the Hoshans and UPF. You know, after they were ravaged by pirates? Ever since then they both became a bitter force to deal with. Even the Hoshans formed into 'indestructible' Boarding Parties which cannot be harmed in combat."
ORION SYNDICATE BASE, 4Xe / 02 Jan 2365 / Y259 / Stardate 51997
The Velron and Bolaar approached the Orion Syndicate base, and were approached by a swarm of ships.
Tlusok was surprised at the WYN ship.
"I thought WYNs had to leave the cluster and had 'Link-Caravans'?" He asked.
Again, the Velron stared blankly a second, then replied, "Uh, no, the cluster is fine. What's a 'Link-Caravan'?"
Tlusok shoot his head. "Never mind."
The Orion Syndicate base was a large city located on a Class M planet. I provide an SSD for an actual city here, this is the kind of thing you don't see much in SFB.
Here's some quick notes on some of the systems that don't appear in the TNG packet:
After being settled into the Orion Syndicate base, Tlusok began preparations to give the past another visit.
WYN CLUSTER (Map Square K-13), 0Xs / 06 Feb 2265 / Y159 / Stardate 2989
Actual play for Part 2 resumed with the Barbarian and Hispaniolan being escorted into the WYN cluster (see Part 1). There's a bunch of stuff to be mentioned here, probably the most amusing is the "Bubble Gum Technician" and the "Arena".
The "Bubble Gum Technician" is a scientist specialized in pods, such as Lyran Power Packs, Tholian Cargo Packs, and Romulan Sparrowhawk modules.
He offers a special set of 2X tech level pods which can be attached to any ship.
They may be related to the Star Control Precursor Modules, but the Bubble Gum Technician wouldn't reveal the procedure of their construction.
Each module is 20 BPV, 1 internal and is assigned a hit location on the DAC.
For example, the one destroyed on "Drone" hits allows your seeking weapons to use Free Movement (amongst other things).
Here's a horribly incomplete version of the information. I have a complete version in handwritten form (which I'll type in soon).
The "Arena" is where a bunch of heavily modified WYN Aux ships battle it out using Non-Violent Combat. The Arena itself is a huge walled enclosure about 2000 km across, with interior walls and other features (I'm working on a map right now). For the arena, each hex on the map will be 100 km, but weapon ranges and movement rates are still at 1 per hex, due to the "indoors" nature of the map (lots of walls and such reduce effective speed & range).
The Arena was excellent practice for cluster duty, and many WYN "improvements and innovations" were developed here. A few of the "Gladiators" are presented below. I've got a bunch more handwritten which will be presented soon.
The Barbarian and Hispaniolan refitted their five ships (remember they still had a Paravian, a Hoshan, and a UPF ship captured). I'll put up revised versions of their SSDs here soon. They also hired two Legendary Engineers, one of which was previously working on TransWarp for the Federation.
Also in the WYN Cluster was an "Adventurer's Guild", showing job possibilities and pirating operations in and around the cluster. The Barbarian and Hispaniolan, after their ships were finished, selected a job outside the cluster. The job involved rescuing an ancient database from a planet falling into a Black Hole near Tholian space. The contact, a shadowy man named Muldek, was willing to pay the party a huge sum (about 100 economic BPV), as long as the party did not study or copy the database.
FEDERATION/KLINGON BORDER (Map Square G-16), 0Xs / 12 Feb 2265 / Y159 / Stardate 2998
The Barbarian and Hispaniolan left heading south of the cluster, going between the Federation and Klingon empires, towards Tholian space. They ended up witnessing a large Fed-Klingon battle called "The Battle of Trotman". I have many more SSDs for this battle, this is only a small bit of it.
The battle ended when everyone (including the party) got their controls red-hot from the Organians, who decided the fight should stop.
THOLIAN INFORMATION PLANET (Map Square D-16), 0Xs / 14 Feb 2265 / Y159 / Stardate 3000
The party arrived at the system with the information planet, and saw it perilously close to a black hole. Several Tholain ships were around it, attempting to "net it" with a web and eventually carry it off. The party roared into battle, determined to not let the Tholians wreck their 100 BPV payment.
The party downloaded a huge database from the doomed planet called the "Collation", and then the planet fell into the black hole. The party opened the database file, and discovered information on the Ancient Empires, which is the Alpha Quadrant a thousand years ago. The SSDs given are the races as they appeared circa 1000 AD.
