Well, this is less than 1/3 of the SSDs I planned for the remainder of this, but I'm outta time and need to go home to my family. Everyone have a Happy New Year! Starting next week, I will only update my SFB page on Thursdays, so it will be easier for everyone to check my page for updates.

Y171 (Stardate 8400) [Unexpected guest]

(R2.265) Federation 2Xs Decker Destroyer
Captain Decker left the trio in this experimental destroyer, which uses a new type of engine called DWARP (see the SSD).
He traveled west towards the WYN cluster, and encountered several races: Teckla, Cardassian, Klingon Worshipers of the Bane Fleet, Delta Vee, Cyclix, Zerraman, Krebiz, and Ferengi.
I have SSDs for a 2X Teckla and Krebiz below:

(R84.266) Teckla 2Xs Damocles Battleship
(R41.266) Krebiz 2Xs Galactic Survey Cruiser

[Old SSD] (R99.502) The Probe
The Probe (from Star Trek IV) then showed up, wondering why Earth had stopped sending Whale-song for 200 years.
It flew right past Decker's ship (but Decker stayed far enough away to avoid being disabled), and roared into Klingon territory towards Earth.
Decker sent pleas for help and communication with the Probe, all of which were ignored.

The Probe eventually ran into V'Ger Cloud-Ships.
The Cloud-Ships could not effectively damage the Probe, as the Amplification Wave and Alter systems would completely destroy the Plasmas.
However, the Probe could see that it would have trouble going all the way to Earth, so it explored other options.
It decided to return to Decker's ship, and it beamed Captain Decker himself aboard the Probe.
Decker was amazed by what he saw: giant beautiful rainbow creatures floating about like clouds.
The interior of the Probe was many large rooms with invisible walls, creating an almost aquarium-like effect.
The Probe-creatures could not speak or generate Human sounds, but were able to give Decker the impression they were generally peaceful and wanted contact back with Earth.
Decker communicated with the Probe-creatures for weeks, and the Probe modified itself to hopefully be able to direct an attack against the main V'Ger ship itself.

Meanwhile, Commodore Terrell aboard the Reliant travelled east through Hoshan space, and found the Hoshan and Zeator completely destroyed.
A lone Hoshan ship remained, apparently its technology being helped by former Federation engineers:
(R80.266) Hoshan 2Xs Mr. Garrison Command Battleship

Terrell also travelled further east (to where I placed the C4 simulator races on the map), and ran into a mild surprise.
The Barbarian and Hispaniolan from my 1998 Campaign had settled on a system here, deep into their retirement.
For those of you keeping track of the 1998 Campaign, this is after Part 5 and everything we ran in the campaign.
(R60.266) Hispaniolan 2Xs Retired 1998 Campaign ship
(R55.266) Barbarian 2Xs Retired 1998 Campaign ship

The Barbarian and Hispaniolan, being accustomed to such "Universe-shattering" effects, decided it was time to get off their duffs and help out.
First, they opened up their ancient technology database (from 1998 Campaign Part 2), and contacted the evil spirit named SmileyLich that lived in there and gave information.
(For those interested, SmileyLich is a character that appears in both my AD&D and SFB campaigns. In AD&D, he is the gate-keeper for the Liches who explore the powerful energies that lie beyond the Great Funnel in Concordant Opposition looking for the Ultraplanes. In SFB, he sits in the database called the Collation which the Barbarian and Hispaniolan possess. In either form, he is an extremely powerful 13X being who provides assistance, at the cost of your soul.)
Second, the Barbarian reluctantly contacted Q, and (after some debate) got Q to at least talk to V'Ger to see if anything could be done.
And last, the El-Aurian aboard the Hispaniolan ship provided Terrell (who later related to Kirk) information as to the location of the El-Aurians and Opposition.

To make a long story short, Q visits V'Ger, who sees Q as a strange anomolous being from another universe called the Continuum (something V'Ger had great difficulty believing in).
V'Ger attempts to dominate Q, and partially succeeds.
Q's physical form is destroyed, and he is banished back to the Continuum and is forced to regenerate for over a decade afterwards.
V'Ger makes a probe (similar to Ilia) in Q's form, and was able to get some information from Q before he was banished.
One little piece of information was particularly interesting to V'Ger: the origin of the mechanical planet that saved V'Ger so many years ago.
V'Ger learned that the race is called the Borg, and V'Ger decided to attempt communication with the Borg to see if they could help V'Ger again.

When the Barbarian and Hispaniolan visit Earth to see how Q fared, they are taken by surpise from the Q-probe and the Hispaniolan is destroyed.
The Barbarian barely escaped (using an Alternate Universe trick they learned in 1998 Campaign Part 4), and could never return to this timeline.

Terrell continued on, and ran into the World-Fleet, who were using ships in large numbers to overwhelm the V'Ger Cloud-Ships.
(R85.266) World-Fleet 2Xs Command Frigate

He successfully contacted the World-Fleet, and made what he believed to be a treaty with them.
When the Reliant joined the World-Fleet forces in what was supposed to be an attack on Earth, the World-Fleet instead destroyed the Reliant.
Why the World-Fleet did this was unknown, but I will explain the hostility of the World-Fleet towards Humans in a future SFB offering.

(R2.269) Federation 2Xs Andor Missile Cruiser

Kirk was in command of the USS Andor, one of the more advanced Federation ships remaining.
He travelled north past Tamarian space, and encountered several Weird Races of the Galactic Center (which I have SSDs for but no time to type them in! sorry! I'll put them up someday...)
With the information given to Terrell from the Hispaniolan, Kirk found the El-Aurian homeworld, currently being ravaged by nine Borg cubes.
Flying around the system were dozens of tiny "Doomsday Machines" similar to what Kirk had encountered during the Enterprise's five-year mission.
Ironically, it was Decker's father who gave Kirk the idea to destroy the Doomsday Machine he encountered years ago.

(R99.566) Monster El-Aurian 5X Asteroid Crusher / Mini Doomsday Machine

Doomsday Machines are constructed by the El-Aurians.
They are comprised of Solid Neutronium, for two very good reasons: first, the Solid Neutronium made the ships immune to Borg Cutter Beams, and second, Solid Neutronium made travel into the Nexus (Star Trek: Generations) an easy affair.
The Nexus was the El-Aurian's "Haven" to escape the Borg, it would take the Borg decades to devise a way to yank them away from the Nexus.

The El-Aurians, guiding the Andor away from the Borg cubes, directed them to an Opposition base nearby.
Kirk, over the next couple of weeks, became accustomed to the Opposition's rather scathing obsession with destroying the Borg at all costs.
The cold logic from Spock's Katra mind meld had been causing Kirk to lose his humanity quickly over the last few years.
McCoy had studied the effect, but with the destruction of Vulcan (and Mount Seleya), the Katra could not easily be seperated from Kirk without placing Spock's soul in a permanent Hell.

(R87.166) Opposition 1X Dreadnought
(see the old Opposition GSC SSD for rules notes)

Kirk and the Opposition fleet travelled to Earth, and timed their arrival to coincide with Decker's arrival on the Probe.
Again, to make a long story short, the Kirk-Decker side was losing badly to V'Ger.
The Opposition were able to become immune to the V'Ger plasma, so V'Ger started developing newer ships with different technologies from all over the galaxy, and eventually the Opposition was defeated.
Decker "rammed the Probe down V'Ger throat" (using a term his father coined), and neither he nor the Probe survived the experience.

During the fight, V'Ger successfully contacted the Borg Collective.
The Borg Queen, spewing a surprisingly large pack of lies, convinced V'Ger that they would be able to help better if V'Ger transmitted its data to them.
They may be even be able to relay the information to the Creator.
V'Ger, as gullible as ever, agreed and started to transmit its massive knowledge to the Collective.
The Q-probe, on board the V'Ger main ship, watched with increasing happiness...

Kirk fleed the battle in the Andor, knowing he probably would never get a better chance to end the V'Ger threat.

Conclusion of SFB End of Millenium Part 3.

I don't have time for the planned (and rather small) Part 4, which was going to have only about 5-10 SSDs.
The brief idea was:
It's a year after the last battle I just described, and the surviving Galactic Races are 3X.
The Borg are now 8X, and are now contacting and travelling to other galaxies attempting to assimilate them.
The Lyrans, WYN, and Dominion (from the other side of the Wormhole) attack V'Ger and fail.
Kirk, staying with the El-Aurians, falls under a Borg-V'Ger combined attack and flies into the Nexus.
After some fancy techno-temporal-babble, Kirk is able to transmit a single thought to himself in time.
Th time he chooses is the source of his guilt for failure: the original negotiation with V'Ger at the beginning of Part 1.
He sends a message to himself at the beginning of Part One, telling himself to keep quiet instead of blurting out the line:
"The Creator will respond, but first, V'Ger must remove the orbiters around the third planet."
In the "corrected" timeline, Kirk says nothing there, and the events continue in the way we see them in Star Trek: The Motion Picture.
The Shattered Universe timeline ceases to exist, and everything that occured there is forgotten except to Q, SmileyLich, and the Guardian of Forever.

And thus ends the idea for the Shattered Universe.
Not bad for a week's work, I just wish I had more time to type in all these hand-drawn SSDs.
Oh, well, I hope you enjoyed reading this as much as I enjoyed typing it.
Everyone, please have a Happy and Safe New Year.
